A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Adoption Applications
Recently, I have been taking photos for foster dogs in order to help get them adopted.
Taking these photos has helped me realize how important a good photo for an adoptive dog is. Think about it. When you're scrolling through a rescue site or PetFinder, which pictures are you more likely to click on? A bad photo or a good photo? A blurry photo or a clear photo?
In an effort to help out rescued/foster dogs in need of a forever home, I've decided to take free photos for the dog's kennel card- the only cost would be for travel expenses outside of Ames.
So, if you have a foster dog or a rescue dog whose kennel card photo doesn't give them justice, e-mail me and we'll meet up somewhere!

Herding Fun Day Photos
For those of you visiting from the Herding Fun Day, I will be uploading and editing photos over the next week or so.
Here's the deal!
I will set up a link to a Flickr set (right here!) that will contain photos from the day's event. If you see photos you would like to buy, please e-mail me (rachel.ritland@gmail.com) with a list of photos you'd like to receive- I will set up another private Flickr set just for you with all your chosen photos, with the water mark removed. I can also give you a CD with the photos if you would prefer that instead.
Photos will be $5 a piece, or $30 for six or more.
Please check back frequently over the week, I will try to add photos to the set as I go, and please e-mail me if you have any questions!! :-)
Thanks, and hope you had a great day herding!!

Welcome to JaderBug Photography!
Hi! Welcome to JaderBug Photography! I specialize in dog photography, but also photograph horses and many other critters as well. Please visit my Flickr photostream to see examples of my photography.
I shoot candid shots in the Ames area, usually either in a backyard, or if your dog has a good recall, we can go out to some local parks- anywhere your dog can run around off-leash. The Ames Dog Park is an option as well, but there can be a lot of distractions there. I am available for shoots most weekends and after work during the week. I shoot on sunny or overcast days, so weather is a big factor in scheduling- if your session day turns out to be bad weather, we'll reschedule!
If you have a certain event or activity (agility, tracking, herding, etc.) within an hour drive time that you would like me to photograph, let me know when and where, we may be able to line that up as well!
If you've seen me shooting at the Ames Dog Park and see a picture of your pooch on my photostream and would like a copy, please e-mail me!
After the photo shoot, allow 1 to 2 weeks for editing photos. You will receive a CD with the edited images to do with as you please, and/or prints of the photos (extra).
Please contact me about pricing!
The best way to contact me is through e-mail: rachel.ritland@gmail.com
Thanks for visiting, and I hope to see you and your pets soon!!
